Samaria Cemetery (Moss Cemetery), near Dugger, Stockton Township, Greene County, Indiana

He is buried beside his two sons, Georga Ellis and William Ellis, Photos taken July 31, 2002

Service: Entered service during the fall of 1780 in Abbeville District South Carolina under Lt. William CONAWAY and was sent against the indians. He was in the engagement on the Genestrose River and was wounded in the heel. After returning to his home near Due West, S. Carolina he was unable to serve for two or three months. Next he was with Capt Joseph PICKENS at the Battle of Cowpens and Eutaw Springs and the Seige of Ninety Six when Capt Joseph PICKENS was killed. Served also in Militia in a Georgia Regiment.

Directions: Samaria Cemetery:

This cemetery is located at the back and sides of Samaria Penecostal Church, in section 7 of Stockton Township, Greene County, Indiana.

Going a short distance on State Hwy 54 east of Dugger, turn right or south onto the County Road at the Sullivan-Greene Countyl line, go south for about 2/10 mile then turn left or east onto Greene Co Rd 275 N, go about 2/10 mile and Samaria Church and Cemetery is on the right or south side of the road.
